What does “Previously Salvaged Title” mean?
We are A-1 Used Cars at 601 1st Ave. in South Sioux City,
Nebraska, right across the river from Sioux City, Iowa. At A-1 Used
Cars we feature many vehicles that have previously salvaged titles.
What that means is that we buy damaged vehicles from insurance
companies with a salvage title, thoroughly repair them and get a
new title. It looks like any other title except it has a notation that
says “Previously Salvaged Nebraska”. Insurance companies are
required by law to sell vehicles with a salvage title no matter how
minor the damage is. Many people have the misconception that
“salvage” means a total loss. In a lot of cases that’s true, but we
only repair vehicles that have light to moderate damage. We have
even bought salvage title “theft recoveries” with damage as minor
as broken glass or stolen radio. In every case of a salvage vehicle,
we reveal what was repaired on the vehicle. Our company
repaired and sold it’s first salvage vehicle in 1987, so we have many
years of experience and every vehicle is repaired properly. We
typically sell these vehicles on our lot for approximately 70% of the
retail value, so the savings are substantial if you don’t mind a
notation on the title. Over time they really don’t depreciate any
faster than a clear title vehicle. You can check with your insurance
company but our customers have never had any problems getting
insurance on these vehicles. We back up our vehicles that are five
years old or less with a 30 day power train warranty as long as the
vehicle is brought to our dealership for repairs.
